This example illustrates the basic assumption of data modeling: each point contains signal (model) and noise. The noise follows a Gaussian distribution to fit the assumptions of linear models. Using GeoGebra commands such as Point, RandomUniform, Zip, Textfield, Segment, etc., the process of generating data points is constructed. Suitable for statistics and data analysis courses.

GeoGebra Commands & Parameters

  1. Point(Line[A, xAxis]) → B
  2. Point(Ray[B, B + (0, 1)]) → C
  3. RandomUniform(x(A), x(B), n) → list1
  4. Zip((a, f(a)), a, list1) → list2
  5. Zip((a, f(a) + RandomNormal[0, σ]), a, list1) → list3
  6. Textfield(f) → InputBox1
  7. Segment(A, B) → h
  8. Segment(B, C) → g
  9. Zip((a * p) + (b * (1 - p)), a, list3, b, list2) → list5
