Volume of a Quadrilateral Prism

2016-03-10 15:37
This GeoGebra example demonstrates the volume calculation of a quadrilateral prism. It constructs a prism with quadrilateral ABCD as the base, displaying the base polygon, lateral faces (faceABFE, faceBCGF, faceCDHG, faceADHE), top face EFGH, and all vertical edges (edgeAE, edgeBF, edgeCG, edgeDH). The Volume command computes the prism's volume in real time. Users can drag the base vertices or the height control point to reshape the prism, observing how changes in base area and height directly affect the calculated volume. This interactive exploration helps students intuitively understand and internalize the volume formula V = base area times height, making it a valuable tool for solid geometry instruction.
