Poisson Approximation to Binomial Distribution
Loading the math board and drawing, please wait…
This example demonstrates the approximation of a binomial distribution by a Poisson distribution when the number of trials n is large and the probability of success p is small. Key mathematical concepts include binomial and Poisson distributions. Using GeoGebra commands BinomialDist and Poisson, the probability distribution graphs of both distributions are constructed and their relationship is observed. Suitable for high school mathematics education and students learning probability and statistics.
