Linear Expression: Expand, Gather, Factor
Loading the math board and drawing, please wait…
This GeoGebra example provides an interactive drill on three fundamental algebraic transformations of linear expressions: expanding, gathering like terms, and factoring. The core mathematical concepts involve polynomial operations, the distributive law, common factor extraction, and the use of the greatest common divisor (GCD). Construction highlights: random coefficients are generated using RandomElement and Random commands; the Factor, Simplify, and GCD commands automatically compute and display results; Point and Polygon objects build the visual layout; a button (button1) triggers new random problems; text boxes (text1 to text7) present the question and answer. Suitable for middle school to high school students for self-practice and for teachers in classroom demonstrations, this tool helps learners grasp the equivalence of algebraic expressions through immediate feedback.
