This example demonstrates the geometric illusion of a cylinder. It involves concepts such as cylinders, quadrilaterals, and geometric mean. Using the CurveCartesian and Surface commands, the surface of the cylinder is constructed. Suitable for high school geometry and solid geometry courses.

GeoGebra Commands & Parameters

  1. CurveCartesian((t, (f(t) + g(t)) / 2, f(t) / 2 - g(t) / 2), t, -10, 10) → a
  2. CurveCartesian((t, (-((f(t) + g(t)) / 2)), (-((f(t) - g(t)) / 2))), t, -10, 10) → b
  3. Surface(T, (f(T) + g(T)) / 2, -1 + ((f(T) - g(T)) / 2 * u) + u, T, -1, 1, u, 0, 1) → c
  4. Surface(T, (-((f(T) + g(T)) / 2)), -1 + u - ((u * (f(T) - g(T)))) / 2, T, -1, 1, u, 0, 1) → d
