3D Geometric Construction and Demonstration of a Prism
This GeoGebra applet demonstrates the three-dimensional geometric construction of a prism. The construction begins by defining a polygonal base in the plane, after which the Prism command is applied to dynamically extrude the base into a complete 3D solid model. As users manipulate the parameters, the applet animates the formation process step by step, showing how lateral edges connect corresponding vertices between the bottom and top bases. This interactive visualization enables students to intuitively grasp key spatial geometric features of prisms, including their vertices, edges, faces, bases, and lateral surfaces. The dynamic nature of the construction allows learners to explore how changing the shape of the base polygon directly affects the resulting prism, reinforcing the understanding that a prism is defined by two congruent parallel bases connected by parallelogram lateral faces. The applet serves as an effective teaching tool for solid geometry, supporting the development of spatial imagination and geometric reasoning skills. It is suitable for classroom instruction, self-paced exploration, and visual reinforcement of the properties of prisms and other polyhedra in three-dimensional space.
