Properties of Parabola
This GeoGebra example demonstrates the core geometric properties of parabolas. By constructing the Focus and Directrix, it illustrates standard parabola forms opening in different directions (up, down, left, right). The Vector tool is used to analyze distance relationships between the focus and points on the parabola, while TableText displays geometric quantities corresponding to parameters p, p/2, and 2p, showing how these values change across different configurations. The applet covers essential concepts including the definition of a parabola, the axis of symmetry, the vertex, and the focal length. Students can interactively manipulate the parameters and observe real-time changes in the parabola's shape and position, deepening their understanding of how each parameter influences the curve. This makes it an effective interactive teaching and exploration tool for the conic sections chapter in analytic geometry. The dynamic nature of the applet allows learners to discover key properties firsthand, such as the equidistance property that defines a parabola: every point on the curve is equidistant from the focus and the directrix. It is well suited for both classroom instruction and independent探究 learning, supporting students in building a solid conceptual foundation in conic sections.
