Estimating Pi with a Bean-Tossing Experiment
This GeoGebra example demonstrates the Monte Carlo method for estimating π by simulating random points ('tossed beans') within a square and its inscribed circle. It illustrates core concepts in geometric probability, area ratios, and statistical averaging. The construction uses Circle and Segment to define the unit circle and bounding square, Intersect to manage boundaries, and Sequence, Take, and Sum to generate random points, count hits inside the circle, and accumulate results across trials. Interactive buttons control resetting and data collection. Suitable for high school or introductory college probability/statistics courses to visualize stochastic simulation and numerical approximation.
